Templates

Overview

The Form Designer now supports reusable Templates. Any element or container — in its current configuration — can be saved as a template and reused across all workflows within the tenant. This eliminates repetitive setup work and ensures consistency across forms.

Creating a Template

Any element or container placed in the Form Designer can be saved as a template directly from its context by pressing the save button when the object is highlighted.

The template captures the element or container in its current state, including all configured settings and properties.

Note: Element Controls cannot be saved as part of a template. Element Controls define visibility, writability, and required-state of form elements and containers within a specific context of the process model — such as a task or swimlane.

Since these contexts differ between workflows, Element Controls are always configured individually and are not transferred when saving or applying a template.

Using Templates

Templates are available in the left-hand sidebar of the Form Designer alongside the regular elements and containers. They can be dragged and dropped onto the form just like any other element or container.

Once placed, templates behave like any regular form element — they can be freely modified, extended, and adapted to the specific needs of the form. A placed template can also be saved again, allowing it to be updated and overwritten. Existing instances of this template are not affected, only new ones are getting the changes.

Managing Templates

A dedicated Templates tab in the Form Designer provides an overview of all available templates. From this tab, templates can be sorted and deleted.
