Advanced Search
Overview
The Advanced Search extends the existing search experience in TIM Flow. Clicking the search field in the top bar opens the search panel, which introduces three core capabilities: targeted search with configurable filters, inline result previews, and quick access to recently viewed items.
Search Filters
Users can choose to search either Instances or Tasks and narrow down results by specifying one or more search attributes before executing the search. This allows for precise, targeted searches instead of scanning through large result sets.
Instance Search Attributes
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Instance Name | Search by the name of the instance. |
Start | Filter by start date. Supports single dates, multiple dates, or a date range. |
End | Filter by end date. Supports single dates, multiple dates, or a date range. |
Process | Filter by workflow (process definition). Shows all workflows the user has access to. |
Creation User | Filter by the user who created the instance. |
Creation Group | Filter by the group that created the instance. |
Is Open | Filter by status: open, finished, or both. Leave unselected to find both. |
Task Search Attributes
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Task Name | Search by the name of the task. |
Actor | Filter by the assigned actor. |
Group | Filter by the assigned group. |
Process | Filter by workflow. Shows all workflows the user has access to. |
Process Instance | Filter tasks by their associated process instance. |
Creation Time | Filter by task creation date. Supports single dates, multiple dates, or a date range. |
End | Filter by the task end date. Supports single dates, multiple dates, or a date range. |
Is Open | Filter by status: open, finished, or both. Leave unselected to find both. |
Results
Once search attributes are set, users have two ways to work with the results:
Inline selection — matching results appear directly within the search panel, allowing users to open an item immediately without leaving the current context.
Result table — executing the full search opens a dedicated results table showing all matching instances or tasks.
Recently Viewed
The search panel displays the 10 most recently viewed instances and 10 most recently viewed tasks. These are shown directly on opening the panel and can be clicked to navigate to the item instantly — no search required.
